TCBY (The Country’s Best Yogurt) is an American chain of frozen yogurt stores. It is one of the largest U.S. retailers of soft-serve frozen yogurt

Back in 1981, TCBY opened the country’s first frozen yogurt shop in Arkansas. Realizing quickly that we experienced a unique product the country was clamoring for, we started offering franchise opportunities these year. Since that time, we’ve continued to grow to over 360 stores nationwide.

Our company is also continually looking for ways to keep our customers satisfied and coming back for more. That’s why we joined forces with Mrs. FieldsĀ® in 2000 to become Mrs. Fields Famous Brands. Today, TCBY Specials leads the current market in nutrition, taste, and cool product innovation, always reaching to anticipate the evolving needs and wants of our own customers.

We’ve remodeled our interiors and our brand to mirror our forward-thinking outlook on the future using a modern brand and logo, colorful palette and chic interior decor. We’ve been constructing a legacy of tasty, healthy frozen desserts over the past thirty years and we don’t have aim of slowing down or looking back.

In 1981, Frank D. Hickingbotham opened the first TCBY in Little Rock, Arkansas. TCBY began franchising the subsequent year, and through 1984 there were over 100 stores.

Prior to 1984, the company’s name was “This Can’t Be Yogurt,” but a lawsuit from a competitor, I Can’t Believe It’s Yogurt!, forced TCBY to produce a new name from the initials, eventually using “The Country’s Best Yogurt”. TCBY began co-branding with Taco Bell, McDonald’s, Subway, and Burger King in 1995.

In 1991 TCBY moved in to the tallest building in Arkansas, Simmons Tower based in downtown Little Rock, and also the building was renamed The TCBY Tower until 2000 when TCBY vacated.

Mrs. Fields acquired TCBY at the begining of 2000 and became Mrs. Fields Famous Brands. The combined company relocated headquarters to Broomfield, Colorado in 2012.

In 2001, there was 1,777 TCBY locations across the nation. By 2011, after several waves of closings, there were 405.
